Math Grade 1 Quiz Add within 100, including adding a two-digit number and a one-digit number, and adding a two-digit number and a multiple of 10 – 1.NBT.C.4
This standard introduces students to addition within 100. They work with adding a two-digit number to a one-digit number as well as adding a two-digit number to a multiple of 10. While performing these operations, students utilize various strategies anchored in place value understanding, the properties of operations, and the interplay between addition and subtraction. Students are also encouraged to use concrete models or drawings to visualize and solve problems. Additionally, they learn that when adding two-digit numbers, they must add the respective place values together (i.e., tens with tens, ones with ones). Occasionally, this may result in a sum that exceeds ten in the ones place, necessitating the “carrying over” or “composing a
ten.”
